Richard E. Simmons

Richard E. Simmons, 81, of Tremont, passed away Thursday, May 29, 2025 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

He was born November 2, 1943 to Walter R. and Irene L. Johns Simmons.  He married Consuelo “Connie” B. Soto, and she preceded him in death, as well as his parents and one son, Raymond.

Richard served in the United States Army servicing in Vietnam.

He retired from Caterpillar Inc. In East Peoria.

He enjoyed spending time drinking coffee with his buddies at the local Shell Station.

A graveside service will be at 10:00 am Wednesday, June 4, 2025 at Mount Hope Cemetery in Tremont.  Military honors will be accorded.  Oswald Funeral Home in Tremont is handling the arrangements.

Memorials may be made to a charity of their choice.
