Richard Watts Obituary

DELAVAN-Richard “Dick” Austin Watts, 91, of Delavan passed away on Saturday, Nov. 26, 2022, in Peoria.

He was born July 7, 1931, in Malone Township, the son of Thayne Elwood and Elizabeth Irene (Tracy) Watts.

He married Mary Beth Goeken on August 10, 1952 in Green Valley, IL. She preceded him in death, March 2001.

He is survived by his four sons Charles R. Watts, Pekin; David L. Watts, Delavan, Duane B. (Katherine) Watts, St. Louis, MO.; William L. (Sarah Chase) Watts, Washington D.C.: one half-brother, Robert Watts; one brother in law John B. (Miriam) Goeken, Jr., Tremont; seven grandchildren, Kevin (Larissa), Cherie, Nicole, Joe (Carissa), Jim (Rebecca), Daniel (Maddie) and Thomas; twelve great-grandchildren, Gunner, Henley, Megan (Drew), Nicholas, Alexander, Austin, Leighton, Westin, Jaelyn, Jensen and Jaden; and one great-great granddaughter, Ella. He is also survived by his companion Carol Newell.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Beth (2001), mother Elizabeth (Tracy) Watts (1935), father Thayne Elwood Watts (1995), and twin grandchildren (1979).

Richard started farming at a young age, and continued to help as he could, spanning over 50 years. He also worked at the Scottish Rite in Peoria for several years. More than all, he cherished time with his family and enjoyed spoiling the grandkids and great grandkids.

His visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, December 1, 2022, at Davis-Oswald Funeral Home, Delavan, with Masonic Rites at 4:30 p.m. Funeral will be 10:00am on Friday, December 2, 2022, at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Delavan First Presbyterian Church or Delavan Masonic Lodge #156.
