Richard “Dick” P. Woodard, 81, of Pekin, passed away Monday, January 1, 2024 at Carl Health Pekin Hospital Emergency Room.
He was born May 14, 1942 in Lincoln to Vaughn and Nora Mae Benedict Woodard. He married Mary Kay Taylor on June 23, 1963 in Tremont, and she survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Jody (John) Vaughn of Mohomet; two grandchildren, Luke Vaughn of Brownsburg, IN and Jack (Sandra) Vaughn of Fisher; and one sister, Donna Messerole of Lincoln.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Richard P. Woodard Jr. and Steven Paul Woodard; and one sister, Anita Miller.
Dick worked for Caterpillar Inc. in East Peoria for over 30 years.
He was a member of the Christian Church in Lincoln, the NRA – National Rifle Association, and a member of the Fur Takers of America.
He was an avid trapper, fisherman, and hunter and loved dirt track auto racing.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Davis-Oswald Funeral Home in Tremont is handling the arrangements.
