Rick Roots, 70, of Bloomington, passed away at 8:19 pm Thursday, November 3, 2021 at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center in Bloomington.
He was born December 14, 1950 in Pekin to Lloyd and Evelyn Timm Roots. He was the oldest of two children.
He attended school K-12 in Pekin and ICC for one year.
Rick spent the majority of his working career in telephony, working mostly with central offices. He officially retired December 16, 2016 from Frontier Communications.
He loved to travel and enjoyed the Atlanta Braves Baseball team and was happy they won the World Series this year.
He married Rebecca “Becky” Koch on February 7, 1969 in Pekin, and she survives. They were blessed with one daughter, Patricia Hussemann; nine grandchildren, Josh (Lauren), Bryton, Sarrie (Virginia), Aleeya, Alexya, Kaeleb, Ariela, Olilah, and Jazmyn; and three great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A private family graveside service will be Sunday, November 7, 2021 at Dillon Cemetery, rural Tremont. There will be no visitation. Davis-Oswald Funeral Home in Tremont is handling the arrangements.
He was a special person with a kind heart and a witty sense of humor. He was loved by his family and the many people who crossed his path in life and will miss his jovial presence.
Pallbearers will include, Ron Koch, Darryl Stoecker, Josh and Bryton Hussemann , Kyle and Kaleb Hussemann.
