Ricky Miesner

Ricky A Miesner 68, of Manito, passed away at home on Friday October 20, 2023.

Born December 12, 1954, in Peoria IL to Ralph and Rose Miesner, he married Karen M Reece on January 25, 1975, she survives.

Also surviving are his three children, Sheldon Miesner, Selina (Dean) Culp, Janelle (Brad) McGrane; one brother, Michael “Mike” Miesner; six grandchildren, Julia Miesner, Ricky Culp, Mackenzie McGrane, Abigail McGrane, Ava Rademacker, Joseph McGrane, 2 nieces, and one nephew. 

He was preceded in death by his parents and two nieces.

As a teenager he started work early, working at a gas station while in high school. He then went to trade school in Kentucky where he met lifelong friends which led to him working for 30 years at Caterpillar as a tool & die maker and machine repair man. After retiring from Caterpillar, he worked at Premier Fabrication.  He then spent the last 20 years retired.

When his children were growing up, he spent time taking the kids camping, boating, and fishing. He taught his children and many of their friends the meaning of hard work and how it pays to do the right thing.  The hobbies he enjoyed were making knives as well as fishing.  Later in life he bought a lake house where he taught his grandchildren the love of fishing.  He was able to teach them his tricks, secret fishing holes and how to properly clean a fish. 

No Services will be held.  A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Special thanks to Janelle and Mackenzie McGrane for the time and personal sacrifice helping him through his cancer battle.     Davis-Oswald Funeral Home in Tremont is handling the arrangements.
