Robert “Bob” Dale Horsch, 91, of Hopedale, entered peacefully into the presence of Jesus at his home on October 22, 2024. He had congestive heart failure.
He was born January 29, 1933 in Fisher to Ervin and Edna Springer Horsch. His family moved to Minier when Bob was 4 years old. He married Joann Ingold on June 15, 1957 at the East Bend Mennonite Church in Fisher. They were married 67 years.
Bob graduated from Minier High School in 1951 and completed 1 W service at Elgin State Hospital. He worked for Bridgestone Firestone in Normal for over 30 years. He later farmed in the Minier area until his passing. Bob was treasurer for the Hopedale Ministerial Alliance for over 50 years. He enjoyed woodworking and collected John Deere model tractors. He followed the Chicago Cubs and Illinois sports. He enjoyed Rook, word searches, jigsaw puzzles, cinnamon apples, and fishing.
He is survived by his wife, Joann; son Brian (Mindy) Horsch, two daughters, Julie Knox, and Vicki (Brent) Hoylman; six granddaughters, Amber, Ava (Kyle) Grose, Elise, Sarah, Ashley, and Renee; and two grandsons, Nicholas and Josh; several great grandchildren; two sisters, Loretta Bohlen and Janice K. Litwiller.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers-in-law, Walter Litwiller and Virgil E. “Gene” Bohlen.
He was a member of the Hopedale Mennonite Church where his funeral will be at 11:00 am Saturday, October 26, 2024. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:45 am Saturday at the church. Burial will be in Mennonite Cemetery in Hopedale. Davis-Oswald Funeral Home in Tremont is handling the arrangements.
