Robert Houston, 68, of Heyworth, formerly of Delavan, passed away at 12:30 am Sunday, January 17, 2021 at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center in Bloomington.
He was born June 10, 1952 in Pekin to Frank and Frances Houston. He married Ann Tyler on June 17, 1972 and she survives.
Also surviving are his mother, Frances Houston of Pekin; his children, Chad (Julie) Houston of Delavan and Cameron (Danielle) Houston of Heyworth; six grandchildren, Garrett, Wyatt, Alyxis, Nola, Landen and Rhoen.
He was preceded in death by his father, Frank; one brother, Randy; one sister, Sherrie Allen; his in-laws, James and Margaret Tyler and his beloved son, Court.
Robert was a graduate of Pekin High School. He spent 28 years working for Caterpillar Inc. while they raised their three sons along with any extra boys that came their way who needed a place to call home. While living in Delavan, Robert was a member of the Assembly of God and was a youth group leader.
He loved spending time with his family, working on his old cars, going fishing with his grandkids, and telling jokes. He had a quirky sense of humor often laughing before the punch line even came and although not very good at it he enjoyed a good card game.
He was known by many as Uncle Dudley and enjoyed nothing more than harassing his many nieces and nephews any chance he had
Cremation has been accorded. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Davis-Oswald Funeral Home in Delavan is handling the arrangements.
