Robert Nathan Pratt

Robert Nathan Pratt, 92, of Armington, Illinois, passed away peacefully at his home on June 6, 2026.

Bob was born March 2, 1934, in Bloomington, Illinois, to Robert James and Mary Louise (Darnell) Pratt. He married Sharon Saathoff on August 16, 1959, and she survives.

Also surviving are his children, Vivian (John) Pratt Anderson, Robert (Ellen) Pratt, and Kay (James) Pratt Tapscott; grandchildren Jessica (David) Murphy, Rachel Jennings, Nathan Pratt Jennings, Robert William Pratt, Rebecca Pratt, and Luke Pratt. He also leaves behind his great-grandchildren, Rose and Peter Murphy, along with beloved members of the Anderson and Tapscott families.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Judy Pratt, brother Joe Pratt, and several other dearly loved friends and family.

Bob attended a one-room schoolhouse during his primary years later, graduating from Hittle High School, where he excelled in basketball and baseball. A talented catcher, he was drafted by the Cleveland Indians and Boston Red Sox. He attended Illinois State University before being drafted into the United States Army and serving with the Fighting Eighth Infantry Division in Schwäbisch Gmünd, Germany.

After his military service, Bob worked for R.A. Cullinan before returning to farming, which remained his lifelong vocation. A dedicated conservationist, he served on the Tazewell County Soil and Water Conservation District Board, the Armington Town Board, and was a member of American Legion Post 913.

A faithful member of Armington Christian Church, Bob served as an elder, deacon, and in numerous leadership roles throughout the years.

Bob was a published author, an active member of the Land of Lincoln Antique Tractor and Engine Club, an accomplished trap shooter, and an avid fly fisherman. He enjoyed the outdoors, antique tractors, and spending time with family and friends.

Bob will be remembered for his integrity, steadfast faith, love of family, dedication to agriculture and conservation, and his lifelong service to others. His legacy lives on through the many lives he touched and the values he instilled in future generations.

The funeral services will be held Saturday, June 13th at 11am at the Armington Christian Church. The visitation will be held two hours prior to the service at the church.

Burial will be at the Oakview Cemetery in Armington. Memorial contributions may be made to the Armington Christian Church.
