Robert T. Zon Sr, 85, beloved father, grandfather, son and husband died, Thursday, January 21, 2021 in Hopedale, IL, surrounded by his loving daughter and family. Born and raised in Buffalo, NY ,his last years were in Hopedale Community. “Bob” was a family man, and preceded in death by Allyce J Zon, and his second wife Judy Tucholski, his father Joseph Zon Sr, and mother Stella Lacienski Zon. He is survived by his daughter Robin Zon , his son Robert Zon Jr, 5 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and many step- family and friends.
Bob proudly served in the US Army stationed in Japan, and returned to the US to be the first federal Meat Inspector in the State of New York. After 36 ½ years he retired with awards, from the USDA. In his free time over the years he was a bowling champion, canasta expert, putt-putt master, and overall game winner. He was also a die-hard Buffalo Bills and Sabre’s fan and will cheer them on for future championships!
Most notably, Bob had a heart of gold, and was dedicated, loving, cheerful, optimistic, humorous, charming and had a winning smile. In fact his most remembered lesson in life,
Was “keep smiling, it will keep everyone guessing.” He will be missed by so many.
Due to COVID, a Memorial Service will be later in 2021.
Our family would like to thank the Hopedale Medical Complex doctors and staff for his care over the recent years, especially Britney and Tim during his last hours of this life.
