Robert "Bob" Dietrich Obituary

Robert “Bob” Dietrich, 87, of Mackinaw, passed away Thursday, November 17, 2022 at Hopedale Nursing Home. 

He was born August 14, 1935 in Minier to August K. and Mae Glaser Dietrich Sr. He married Betty L. Barrick on August 28, 1955 in Mackinaw, and she passed away January 25, 2011 

Surviving are his children, Mark (Mary) Dietrich of Mackinaw, Chris (Sharon) Dietrich of Minier, and Robert (Greta) Dietrich of Glenarm; six grandchildren, Justin (Jackie) Dietrich, Caleb (Kristin) Dietrich, Jordan Dietrich, Samantha Dietrich, Matthew (Sallie) Campbell, and Tony (Elizabeth) Campbell; 13 great grandchildren; one brother, George (Lois) Dietrich of Minier; three sisters, Elsie Long of Mackinaw, Grace Fluegel of Minier, and Linda Holland of Creve Coeur; one sister-in-law, Ruth Dietrich of Mackinaw; and many nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Don Dietrich and August “Bus”  Dietrich Jr. 

Bob was a lifelong farmer in the Minier-Mackinaw area. 

He was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ in Minier, where he served as president of the church board and served on the building committee. 

He served as road commissioner for 12 years and  served  as Township Supervisor, both for Little Mackinaw  Township. Bob was instrumental on the first committee of the development of the Emergency Management Service (EMS) in Minier, served as a 4-H leader in Minier for 10 years, member of Tazewell County Farm Bureau, where he often hosted foreign dignitaries, was active in the Minier Historical Society, and the Minier Corn Daze. 

Bob enjoyed going to farm sales, his antique tractors, antique cars, and farm toys. 

His funeral will be at 10:00 am Tuesday, November 22, 2022 at St. John’s United Church of Christ Fellowship Hall.  Visitation will be from 4 to 7 pm Monday, also at the church fellowship hall.  Burial will be in Minier Cemetery.  Haensel-Oswald Funeral Home in Mackinaw is handling the arrangements. 

Memorials may be made to Minier Rescue Squad or St. John’s United Church of Christ.
