Roland E. “Rollie” Hoffman, 88, of Tremont, passed away November 28, 2021 at Hopedale Hospital.
He was born April 30, 1933 in Tremont to Earl F. and Alice Hinman Hoffman. He married Sally J. Strunk on November 25, 1956 in Tremont.
Surviving are his wife, Sally Hoffman of Tremont; one son, David L. Hoffman of Tremont; one daughter, Christine (Steve) Lander of St. Peters, MO; five granddaughters, Julie Mueller of Wentzville, MO, Mary Lander of St. Louis, MO, Lisa Roth of Florissant, MO, Melissa Schoenbein of Tremont, and Mallory Hoffman of Tremont; two step grandchildren, Jesse Simmons of Bloomington and Jaime Deppert of Tremont; four great grandchildren; and seven step great grandchildren.
Rollie served in the U.S. Army in Germany from 1953-1955.
He worked at Libby, McNeil, and Libby for 20 years, Caterpillar Inc. for three years, and farmed for 40 years.
He was a member of Northfield Christian Fellowship in Tremont
He served on the Village of Tremont Board and was a director of Tremont Savings & Loan for 39 years.
He enjoyed traveling, reading, gardening, fruit trees, and singing.
A grave side service was held Wednesday, December 1, 2021 at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Tremont. Don Stuber officiated. Davis-Oswald Funeral Home in Tremont was in charge of arrangements.
