Ronald J. Bright

Ronald J. Bright, 85, of Tremont, passed away Monday, September 15, 2025 at his home.

He was born April 22, 1940 in Tremont to Velda J. and Elsie Stevens Bright.  He married Lilah L. Rowell on December 2, 1990 in Mackinaw, and she passed away April 28, 2022.

Surviving are his children, Ken Bright of Tremont, Janet (Chris) Durham of Hopedale, Jean Ann Hert (Tim) of McLean; stepchildren, Raymond Potter of Morton, Beverly (Eric) Rogers of Pekin and Phyllis Moore of Morton; 14 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Louis and Gerald; one grandson, Shane; and one stepson, Edwin.

Ron was a graduate of Tremont High School and owned and operated Quarter Construction in Tremont for about 50 years.  He also operated Clouse’s gravel pit, rural Tremont.

He was a member of the Local 649 Operating Engineers Union for over 50 years. He was also involved with the senior meals in Tremont and attended Northfield Christian Fellowship in Tremont.

He was a big supporter of Ruby’s Recue in McLean, enjoyed spending time outdoors on his property, Sunday breakfast at Jack’s, going to country music shows, attending his grandchildren and great grandchildren’s events, eating out with friends and hosting wiener roasts with family and friends.

His funeral will be at 10:00 am Monday, September 22, 2025 at Northfield Christian Fellowship in Tremont.  Roger Stuber will officiate.  Visitation will be from 5-7 pm Sunday at Davis-Oswald Funeral Home in Tremont.  Burial will be in Gaines Cemetery in Minier.
