Ronald H. Compton, 90, of Mackinaw, passed away Tuesday, May 26, 2026 at Timbercreek Rehab and Health Care Center in Pekin.
He was born May 9, 1936 to Howard L. and Edna Hays Compton. He married Mary Foster on Valentines Day in 1960 and she passed away March 31, 2014.
Surviving are three daughters, Julie (Roger) Owens of Decatur, Joanie (Jim) Schertz of Washington, and Jill (Brian) Hild of Tremont; six grandchildren, Brady, Jamie, and Jacie Hild, Jonathon and Jordan Schertz, and Keith (Moriah) Owens; and two great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, James; two brothers; and one sister.
Ron worked at Caterpillar Inc for 38 years and was an Angus cattle farmer.
He served as a Tazewell County 4-H Fair superintendent for many years and as a Mackinaw Auxiliary Police officer.
He was a member of the Mackinaw Christian Church.
A graveside service will be at 10:30 am Friday, May 29, 2026 at Mackinaw Township Cemetery. Dave Huette will officiate. There will be no visitation. Haensel-Oswald Funeral Home in Mackinaw is handling the arrangements.
