In Loving Memory of Rose “Rosie” Marie Bolliger

Rose “Rosie” Marie (Buswink) Bolliger, 94, of Tremont, Illinois, went to her eternal home in Heaven on August 26, 2026, at Pekin Manor in Pekin, Illinois. She had been a resident there for the past six months.

Rose was born on December 12, 1931, in Howard, South Dakota, to Frank and Minnie (Weishaupt) Buswink. She was a 1949 graduate of Morton High School. Rose married Benjamin Bolliger on February 21, 1954, in Tremont. Their marriage began with Ben stationed in Germany while serving in the United States Army. During those years, Rose formed lifelong friendships with many other Army families, and yearly Fourth of July celebrations became a cherished tradition that continued for many years.

Rose was a devoted homemaker and spent many years working alongside her husband as the bookkeeper for Bolliger Excavating. She took great pride in supporting her family and in being a part of the business that she and Ben built together.

Some of Rose and Ben’s fondest family memories were made traveling in their motorhome with their boys. Those adventures brought them many happy times together.

Rose also had a deep love for her community and gave many years of her time volunteering at the Tremont Turkey Festival. She was especially honored when she was named Grand Marshal of the 1988 Tremont Turkey Festival. Among her many contributions to the festival, Rose pioneered the festival newsletter, which was published each day during the festival. Her dedication, creativity, and willingness to serve became a meaningful part of the festival’s history.

In her free time, Rose enjoyed crafting and attending craft shows throughout the years. She found joy in creating things with her hands and in sharing those interests with others. One of her favorite pastimes was gathering with family and friends to play card games. She treasured the friendships and memories made around the table, filled with good conversation, friendly competition, and plenty of laughter.

Rose was a faithful believer in our Lord and Savior and a lifelong member of Tremont United Methodist Church. She devoted her life to her family, her friends, and her community, leaving a legacy of faith, service, and loving connection with those she held most dear. Although she will be deeply missed, we find comfort in knowing that she is now at peace in the loving arms of Jesus.  

Rose is survived by her three sons, Bruce (Dena) Bolliger of Hopedale, Dan Bolliger, and Dean (Trudy) Bolliger, both of Tremont. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Paige (Dustin) Kilgus, Brooke (Nathaniel) Kaiser, Sheri (Christopher) Allen, Keith (Kim) Liescheidt, Ethan (Jessie) Humberd, and Chad Little; 14 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandson; one sister, Elizabeth Lubke; and many nieces and nephews whom she adored. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Benjamin on July 24, 2005; two sisters, Lucille Schmidgall and Dorothy Funk; a daughter-in-law, Carol Bolliger; and a great-grandson, Jarrett Allen.

Funeral services will be held at the Davis-Oswald Funeral Home of Tremont at 11:00 AM Tuesday, September 8, 2026, with Pastor Paul Nolden of Tremont United Methodist Church officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 9:30 – 10:45 AM at Davis-Oswald Funeral Home.
