Ruth Dietrich Obituary

Ruth E. Dietrich, 93, formerly of Mackinaw, passed away Friday, May 10, 2024 at Carle Health – Pekin Hospital.

She was born August 24, 1930 in Peoria to Reinhold and Clara Mangold Guth.  She married Donald E. Dietrich on January 31, 1954 in Princeville, and he passed away March 13, 2002.

Surviving are her children, Daniel (Christine) Dietrich of East Peoria, Douglas (Cheryl) Dietrich of Mackinaw, and Debra (Frederick) Logue of Mackinaw; nine grandchildren, Abigail, Kyle, Alex, Benjamin, Genna, Nathan, Scott, Ryan, and Frederick, Jr; six great grandchildren, Trenton, Krislyn, Emma, Mara, Samantha, and Theodore.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister; one son, Donald Dietrich, Jr.; one niece, Donna; and one nephew, Bob.

She graduated from Princeville High School and St. Francis School of Nursing.

Ruth was a registered nurse and retired from Hopedale Medical Complex after 43 years.

She was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ in Minier, the Red Hat Society, American Legion Auxiliary, Tazewell County Farm Bureau, Mackinaw and Minier Sewing Club, a card club for over 40 years, and a life member of Ladies Auxiliary Military Order of the Purple Heart of the U.S.A.

She enjoyed crocheting, embroidery, bird feeding and watching, gardening, and reading.

Her funeral will be at 10:00 am Friday, May 17, 2024 at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Minier.  Visitation will be from 5 to 7 pm Thursday at St. John’s United Church of Christ Fellowship Hall and one hour before the service at the church.  Burial will be in Minier Cemetery.  Haensel-Oswald Funeral Home in Mackinaw is handling the arrangements.

Memorials may be made to St. John’s United Church of Christ in Minier.
