Sandra K. Horner, age 76, of rural Armington, passed from this sin cursed world into the splendor of God’s Heaven on Friday, March 15, 2024.
She was born in Bloomington, IL on August 18, 1947 to Harold and Oma (Goodin) Wellenreiter. Sandra graduated from Heyworth High School in 1965. She graduated from Illinois State University in 1969, with a B.S. degree in Elementary Education. Sandra married John L. Horner of Armington on April 6, 1968.
She is survived by her devoted husband; her sons, Chris Horner of McLean and Joshua (Leigh) Horner of Atlanta; sister, Sue (Mike) Bolt of Bloomington; grandchildren, Rachel Horner of Bloomington, Daisy Horner of Bloomington, and Anthony Godden of Atlanta; one infant great granddaughter, Lealynn; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bobby Joe and Nancy Horner of Armington; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Roger H. (Jackie) Wellenreiter of Greenfield, IN.
Sandra was deeply devoted to her Lord, her family, friends. She was also dedicated to her loving church family at Liberty Baptist Church in Minier, IL.
As a devoted Christian and pastor’s wife, she served the Lord, pointing people to faith in Jesus Christ as their Savior. She taught in Christian Schools for several years and, and supervised home schooled children for many more. Only God knows how many souls Sandra touched for His glory. Even in her lengthy illness, she often said, “God’s will be done.”
Sandra enjoyed singing solos at church and in groups. She also enjoyed sewing, crocheting, gardening, and her pets.
Her funeral will be at 2:00 pm Thursday, March 21, 2024 at Liberty Baptist Church in Minier. Pastor David Coyle officiating. Visitation will be from 12:00 pm until the time of the service, also at the church. Burial will be in Oak View Cemetery in Armington. Arrangements are being handled by Davis-Oswald Funeral Home in Tremont.
