Shirley Burden

Shirley Jean LaBorde Burden, 85, of Tremont, the loving wife of Arthur “Bert” Burden, died Saturday, June 11, 2022 at Pekin Manor.

Shirley was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Shirley was born in Alexandria, Louisiana on July 16, 1936 to Allen and Lula Mae LaBorde.

Shirley leaves behind her loving husband of 67 years, Arthur Burden of Tremont; and daughters, Ramona Hutchison of West Peoria, Rena’ (Drew) Parker of Peoria, Regina Burden of Scarsdale, NY, Rhonda (Ken) Workman of Groveland, and Robin (John) Nafziger of Hopedale. Also, her grandchildren, Philip Hutchison of Tampa FL, Michelle Hutchison of West Peoria, Rob (Kim) Parker of Peoria, Jarred (Lauren) Workman of Aurora CO, Brianna Workman of Groveland, Justina Nafziger of Raleigh NC, Stuart (Hillary) Nafziger of Sherman, Daniel Nafziger of Hopedale; four great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

Three grandchildren, Joshua Workman, Paul Hutchison, Monica Hutchison and her son Richard Burden, preceded her in death.

Shirley was up for adventure, when she married Arthur, it wasn’t long before she was traveling the globe as an Air Force wife. Shirley enjoyed singing, going to church and teaching Sunday School. Shirley was happy helping others and loved to cook.

Her funeral will be at 10:30am Thursday, June 16, 2022 at Davis-Oswald Funeral Home in Tremont. John Nafziger will officiate. Visitation will be from 5:30 to 7:30pm Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
