Shirley Krohn

Shirley Jean Krohn, 96, of Delavan, passed away at 10:00 am Saturday, September 2, 2023 at Hopedale Hospital.

She was born September 18, 1926 in Delavan, IL to Harry and Lucille Luick Zorn.  She married Dean Krohn on October 12, 1946 in Pekin, and he preceded her in death.

She is survived by one son, Alan (Bonnie) Krohn of Germantown Hills: two daughters, Susan (Dale) Winship and Janelle (David) Wilson, both of Delavan; two grandchildren, Melissa Krohn of Eugene, OR and Carrie Krohn of Germantown Hills; two sisters, Dona Shoultz of Delavan and Myrna (Don) Brose of Hopedale; and one brother, Greg “Rocky” (Kathy) Zorn of Bokeelia, FL.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Joyce Lee Clark; and brother-in-law, Don Clark; one brother, Stanley “Butch” Zorn; brother-in-law, Donald “Buck” Shoultz and sister-in-law, Judy Fairis.

Shirley was a familiar face at the Delavan IGA store where she worked for 24 years, retiring in 1984.

She loved flowers and maintained several beautiful flower beds around their home.  She was a member of the Delavan Garden Club for many years until the organization disbanded.  Shirley enjoyed playing cards.  Her favorite game was Pinochle.  However, she took up playing Bridge and enjoyed playing contract Bridge with a group of local ladies for several years.  She was a loyal Cub fan and especially enjoyed the 2016 season with the World Series win.  But most of all, she loved and cherished her family and was always there for us.  She especially enjoyed hearing from and seeing her granddaughters.

A grave side service will be at 11:00 am Friday, September 8, 2023 at Prairie Rest Cemetery in Delavan.  Frank Brozenec will officiate.  There will be no visitation.  Davis-Oswald Funeral Home in Delavan is handling the arrangements.
