Steven “Rammer” Allen Ramsey, 73, of Tremont, Illinois, passed away peacefully on May 29, 2024, at OSF SFMC Hospital.
Steve was born on August 10, 1950, in Beardstown, Illinois and he was preceded in death by his parents LeRoy and Jean Ramsey.
Steve is survived by his wife Peggy, his two daughters Steffany (Scott McCoskey) Whisenand and Shelley (AJ) Parn, his three grandchildren Hannah (Dominic Adlington) Nguyen, Nathan (Maggie) Nguyen, and Sophie Frederick as well as step grandchildren, extended family, and friends who loved him dearly.
Steve was known for his loyalty and love for his family, friends, and his community. In Tremont, he was known as a teacher, bus driver, coach, and supportive community member. He was an active member of the Tremont United Methodist Church. Steve was an outdoors enthusiast. He never passed up an opportunity to go hunting or play a round of golf. He appreciated a day of watching sports like his beloved Cardinals or getting together with friends for his fantasy golf and football leagues.
Steve loved his wife, daughters, grandchildren, and his siblings with a love that we cannot explain. He was always able to mix the good with the bad in a way that made it a wonderful way to live one’s life. He will be missed beyond words and as he always said, “I am glad you got to see me.”
His funeral will be at 11:00 am Tuesday, June 4, 2024 at Tremont United Methodist Church. Pastors Andy Black and Jacque Young will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 pm Monday and from 9:00 to 10:45 am Tuesday, both at the church. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery in Tremont. Davis-Oswald Funeral Home in Tremont is handling the arrangements.
