Susan E. (Gresham) Bennett, 64, of Minier, sadly passed away on Monday, October 28, 2024, at Carle-Bromenn Medical Center in Normal, IL.
She was born on September 28, 1960, in Lincoln, IL to Burnell (Bud) Gresham and Mary Lou Brandt.
Susan spent her final years with her husband and fellow music lover Patrick (Pat) Wagner who preceded her in death earlier this year. She is also preceded in death by her father Burnell Gresham, stepfather James Freitag, and great grandson Apollo Williams.
She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend to many; offering kindness, support, and love in abundance. Susan attended Olympia High School and later earned her GED. She enjoyed photography and crocheting and had a passion for music. Her grandchildren brought her joy in life and were her world.
She is survived by her mother, Mary Lou Freitag of Minier, her children Aaron (Billie) Poynter of Pekin, Nicholas (Nicole) Poynter of Bloomington, Kevin Deckard Jr. of Pekin, and Letitia (Scott) Lucas of Brown County, IN; 17 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her siblings: Brenda, Paul (Buddy), Becky, Leatha, Cindy, Julie, Lisa, Paula, Kevin, Debbie, and Chris; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews most of which affectionately referred to her as Aunt Squeezie. Susan lived a life full of family and friends and will be deeply missed by all.
A celebration of life will be held from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM on November 9th, 2024, at Minier Christian Church in Minier, IL.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her name to Autism Speaks or any Autism charity foundation of the donor’s choosing.
