Terry Gene Komnick, 76, of Armington, passed away Tuesday, April 14, 2026 at his home.
He was born June 4, 1949 in Lincoln to Otto Harold and Florence Virginia Smith Komnick. He married Karen Sue Lindenfelser on August 30, 1970 in Armington, and she survives.
Surviving are his children, Tara (Brad) Talbert of Armington, Tanya (Brian) Lang of Armington, Ryan (Carrie) Komnick of Danvers, and Lindsay (Jed) Otto of Stanford; 12 grandchildren, Jordan (Devon) Talbert, Zachary (Elizabeth) Talbert, Chelsea (Quentin) Frost, Jadyn (Blake) Rusteberg, Ashley (Jayson) Meyer, Austin (Taylor) Lang, Alyssa (JT) Schneider, Brantson Komnick, Brooklyn Komnick, Miles Otto, Maxx Otto, and Malina Otto; and 11 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one granddaughter, Olivia Otto; one brother, Lynn Komnick; and his in-laws, Earl and Evelyn Lindenfelser.
Terry graduated from Hittle High School and received a bachelor’s degree from Illinois State University.
He served in the Army National Guard and was a member of the Armington American Legion.
He was a soybean research breeder at United Agriseed in Champaign for 11 years and retired from Caterpillar Inc. in East Peoria in 2012.
He was a former member of Armington Christian Church where he served as Deacon and is a member of the Minier Christian Church. He served as a 4-H leader for the Hittle Hustler’s and was a member of the Armington Fire and Rescue, where he was a fireman and an EMT.
His greatest joy was his family. He was happiest spending time with them in his pool, his beloved garden or in the bleachers cheering on his grandchildren.
He will be remembered for his Donald Duck voice, his hollering from the stands, “Oh man, terrible call ref terrible call”, his whistling and his contagious happy go lucky attitude.
His funeral will be at 10:00 am Monday, April 20, 2026 at Minier Christian Church. Pastor Jim Webster will officiate. Visitation will be from 4-6 pm Sunday, also at the church. A private burial with military honors will be at Oak View Cemetery in Armington. Davis-Oswald Funeral Home in Tremont is handling the arrangements.
