Troy Erickson

Troy Jon Erickson, age 48, of Morton, Illinois, unexpectedly passed away on August 27, 2026, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria, Illinois, due to complications following outpatient surgery. 

Troy was born on March 31, 1978, to Gary and Pam (Holzwarth) Erickson. He grew up in Murdo and later Warner, South Dakota, as the oldest of three children alongside his sister, Tara, and brother, Ross. 

Troy graduated from South Dakota State University with a degree in Construction Management. Shortly after graduation, he moved to Illinois to join Morton Buildings. He worked as a Project Manager and dedicated his entire professional career to the company. 

On September 21, 2002, Troy married Olivia (Schroeder). Together, they made their home in Morton and built a life centered around their family. Troy and Olivia were blessed with four wonderful children, Trae, Izabella, Hadley, and Kira. 

Though Troy was a man of few words, his actions spoke volumes. He was a devoted husband, a dedicated father, and a steadfast family man who loved his children unconditionally. Troy took great pride in being a father and was a constant source of love, support, and guidance for his children. 

Troy was an avid sports fan who could sit down and enjoy just about any game, but he had a special passion for University of Alabama athletics and the Chicago Cubs. It was rare to see him without a piece of "Roll Tide" apparel, proudly displaying his loyalty to the Crimson Tide. Whether cheering on Alabama or watching the Cubs, sports brought him great enjoyment and were among his favorite pastimes. 

Troy is survived by his wife, Olivia; his children, Trae, Izabella, Hadley, and Kira; his parents, Gary and Pam Erickson; his sister, Tara (Jared) Bossly; his brother, Ross (Michelle) Erickson; his grandmother, Marlene Holzwarth; and six nieces and ten nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Norma and Larry Erickson and Loren "Dean" Holzwarth; his uncle, Gary Holzwarth; and his niece, Sophia Erickson. 

A private family service will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be directed to a local foster care agency in Troy's honor. Supporting foster children and families was a cause especially close to the hearts of Troy and Olivia.
