Tyler Shepke Obituary

On June 6th, 2025, our beloved, faithful servant of Christ, Tyler Shepke, aged 37, passed away in the loving arms of his wife, to join the angels, saints, and our Heavenly Father.

Tyler Joseph Shepke was born May 28, 1988, in Normal, Illinois, to Frank and Tina Boehm-Shepke.
Ty leaves behind his wife, Sydney; son, Emerson; stepson, Bradley; father and mother, Frank and Tina; sister, Kastin Engeling; and brother-in-law, David Engeling.

He also leaves Sydney’s siblings, including Nic and Austin Zamora, and Ashly McCabe and Chelsea Northcutt; father- and mother-in-law, Joe and Angel Zamora; in addition to numerous loving uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends.

Tyler graduated from Illinois State University in 2010 with a Bachelor of Science degree.

Ty’s world changed greatly in 2019 when he met the love of his life, Sydney. Ty and Sydney have been a testament of true and faithful love. They celebrated the birth of their son, Emerson (SweetJ), in 2021. They married in 2022 in the beautiful chapel of Funks Grove.
Ty loved being a husband and father, and he immediately embraced parenting like a pro.

Tyler had a brilliant mind and loved all things science and chemistry. He worked for the last 13 years at Excalibur Seasonings in Pekin, Illinois, as the Manager of Research and Development.

Tyler was a unique individual who left an impact on anyone he met. He was a genuine soul who impacted others with his beautiful smile and kind and gentle manner. Ty was the kindest person we’ve ever known, and his love light will forever shine in all of our hearts.

Tyler was an extremely passionate person whose interests were immense and vast. He loved all things involving outdoor adventures, including scaling mountains, skydiving from airplanes, studying the galaxy, running trails, playing and coaching sports, and one of his biggest loves was chasing tornadoes. Among many of his favorite family nicknames growing up was “Ty Ty the Weather Guy.”

A handsome and stylish man, as noted by many, he was a perpetual student of the world—always seeking new knowledge about how things worked and fixing that which needed repair or improvement.

Ty was also a prankster and practical joker with a huge taste for sweets and good food. His sense of humor, smile, and personality could instantly light up a room.

Tyler was an accomplished musician. His love of music was boundless, and his singing, guitar playing, and songwriting skills were inspiring and magical, and greatly enjoyed by all those who heard him play. We are thankful for—and will forever cherish—the videos of him playing.

Ty fought the hardest battle of his life for four solid years. His strength and amazingly positive attitude have been an inspiration to all of us. He lived lifetimes of love and adventures, and in the end, he loved all his family and extended family dearly. He deeply believed in the love and salvation of our Almighty Father.

Many thanks to all who cared for his physical and emotional needs during his time of illness and valiant struggle against cancer. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Simmons Cancer Institute in Springfield and to Hopedale Medical Complex for their unwavering care and spirituality throughout all four years.

Ty left a mark on this world, and we are heartbroken at his loss. We are thankful for—and inspired by—his faithfulness and love of God.

Rest in peace now, Ty, in eternal glory, and someday soon, we will all be together again. God bless you.
