Valerie Jean Lefler Moss Shoopman

Valerie Jean Lefler Moss Shoopman, 77, of Bloomington, formerly of Hopedale, passed away Saturday, July 6, 2024 at The Loft Rehabilitation and Nursing of Normal.

She was born September 5, 1946 in Macomb to Gene and Arlene Richards Lefler of Colchester.  She first married her high school sweetheart, Brian Moss on June 10, 1967 and he preceded her in death.  She later married Tom Shoopman and he preceded her in death.

She was also preceded in death by her parents and one son, Jeff Moss.

Surviving are one daughter, Jeni (Brian) Moss Berry of Bloomington; her grandchildren, Bryan (Lyndsay) VanDyke of Washington, Meaghan (Derek) Kaiser of Mackinaw, Abby (Andy) Jackson of Mackinaw, Andy (Emily) Moss of Hopedale, Kelsey Moss of Hopedale, and Madison Berry of Bloomington; great grandchildren, Lily and Raelyn VanDyke, Blayne, Kennedi, and Brynli Kaiser, A.J. and Abby Jackson, Nekoda and Arabella Moss; one sister, Nan (Don) Springer of Hopedale; brother and sister-in-law, Brad and Heidi Moss of Bolingbrook; niece, Stephanie Springer Kiesewetter of Willard, MO; and nephew, Matt Springer of Hopedale.

Valerie graduated from Cottage School of Nursing in Galesburg and was a lifelong nurse.

She enjoyed doing Sudoku puzzles, loved watching I Love Lucy, listening to country music, and playing Canasta.

A graveside service will be 2:00 pm Tuesday, July 9, 2024 at Orendorff Cemetery in Hopedale. Frank Brozenec will officiate.  There will be no visitation. Davis-Oswald Funeral Home in Tremont is handling the arrangements.

Memorials may be made to Ruby’s Rescue in McLean.
