Virginia "Rae" Guernsey

Virginia “Rae” (Bolliger) Guernsey, 79, of Tremont, passed away Monday, July 3, 2023 at Hopedale Nursing Home.

She was born December 16, 1943 in Pekin to Raymond “Turk” and Virginia “Ginger” Hinman Bolliger.  She married Steven Guernsey on December 15, 1963 in Tremont, and he survives.

Also surviving are her children, Stephanie Johnson of Tremont, Michelle (Paul) Holthe of Eureka, and Jim (Gwen) Guernsey of Baton Rouge, LA; two granddaughters, Hope Johnson of Fargo, ND and Grace Johnson of Sunnyvale, California; three sisters, Mary (Jay) Cremeens of Tremont, Jody (Ron) Neville of Tremont, and Leslie “Bunny” (Jeff) Norman of Pekin; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Rae worked as a dental assistant for Dr. Kubitschek D.D.S .and Dr. Dutz D.D.S. in Tremont for 41 years, retiring  in 2005.

She was an avid sewer, crafter, and loved spending time with her family, especially her granddaughters.

A celebration of life will be from 1 – 4 pm Saturday, July 29, 2023 at the Tremont United Methodist Church.  Davis-Oswald Funeral Home in Tremont is handling the arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Kidney Foundation or TAPS.
