Wanda Ripper Obituary

Wanda Sue Ripper, 73, of Mackinaw, passed away Tuesday, June 8, 2021 at Country Comfort Retirement Home in Henry.

She was born May 14, 1948 to Reuben and Loretta Ripper.

She attended Mackinaw High School and later became a certified welder.  Wanda worked at General Electric in Bloomington and later worked at Morton Metalcraft for 11 years.  She later took care of her parents and assumed the responsibility for her beloved family farm.  Having lived there her entire life, the Ripper Farm was Wanda’s special pride and joy.  She loved working with her John Deere tractor and renovating her home.

She was a skilled craftsman, if she wasn’t farming or having lunch with friends, she could be found in her workshop. She was well known for her wood working skills, having made countless pieces of furniture and other handiwork, many of which could be found around her home or were presented as special gifts to close friends and loved ones.

Wanda had many friends, several of which were furry.  Being an avid animal lover, she enjoyed the company of her cats and dogs and was known to treat them with the same kindness and affection that she offered to all of her loved ones.

Anyone who was fortunate enough to have known Wanda as a friend would say that she had a kind, giving heart, and could always be counted on in a time of need. Those who loved her will miss her dearly.

Her visitation will be from 12 noon to 2:00 pm Sunday, June 13, 2021 at Haensel-Oswald Funeral Home in Mackinaw.  A private graveside service will be in Mackinaw Township Cemetery in Mackinaw.

Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
