Wayne Detmers Obituary

Wayne E. Detmers, 85, passed away on Friday, October 8, 2021 at Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria.

Born April 2, 1936 in San Jose, Illinois to Roy Edward and Zelma Alice (Gibson) Detmers, he married Margie Kay Bowles on January 1, 1958.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Margie, and three daughters:  Debra (Rev. Daryl) Fansler of Maryville, Illinois, Elizabeth Ann Martin of Yates City, Illinois and Lynda Detmers of Morton, Illinois; two granddaughters, Margaret Grace Fansler of Arlington, Virginia and Melody Ann Martin of Yates City, one sister Wilma (Alvin) Brenneman of LeRoy, Illinois.  He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Sonita Runnel.

Wayne Detmers farmed in Delavan his entire life.  He lived in the same home for 75 of his 85 years and it is surrounded by trees he planted and cared for.  He was 1954 graduate of Delavan High School.  He was a member of the Delavan United Methodist Church and had served as a Trustee there for a number of years.  He was a past Delavan School Board member and served in the Illinois National Guard.

His funeral will be at 11:00 am Friday, October 15, 2021 at Delavan United Methodist Church.  Pastor Charles Graul and Rev. Daryl Fansler will officiate.  Visitation will be from 5 to 7 pm Thursday, and one before the service, both at the church.  Burial will be in Prairie Rest Cemetery in Delavan.  Davis-Oswald Funeral Home in Delavan is handling the arrangements.
