Wayne Diegel

Wayne E. Diegel, 83, of Hopedale, passed away Friday, March 24, 2022 at Hallmark House Nursing Center in Pekin. 

He was born February 10, 1939 in Hopedale to Ermyn and Leona Frevert Diegel. 

Surviving are one sister, Lois (Joseph) Schaefer of Minier; and one cousin, Dale Troyer of Florida. 

He was preceded in death by his parents and several cousins. 

Wayne worked at Caterpillar Inc for many years working as a parts locator. He also operated a small engine repair shop in Hopedale for several years. 

He was a United States Air Force veteran. 

He was a member of the Hopedale Mennonite Church, where a memorial service will be at 11:00 am Tuesday, March 29, 2022.  Pastor Jessica Litwiller will officiate.  Visitation will be one hour before the service at the church.  Burial of cremated remains will be in Orndorff Cemetery.  Haensel-Oswald Funeral Home in Minier is handling the arrangements.
