Wayne Woods Obituary

Wayne L. Woods, age 82, of Delavan, Illinois, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, December 1, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on July 21, 1943, to Virginia and Howard Woods, Wayne grew up with a strong sense of loyalty, hard work, and family values that carried through every chapter of his life.

Wayne was known for his quick wit, sharp one-liners, and the kind of warm humor that could draw a smile from anyone in the room. He was a dedicated worker who spent much of his life with ADM while also caring tirelessly for his family’s farmland—work he took pride in and cherished deeply.

He found joy in life’s simple, steady pleasures. He was a proud member of the Polled Hereford Association. Wayne loved mowing and keeping the land looking just right, casting a line while fishing, listening to old country music, and settling in to watch his favorite old westerns. NASCAR races and wrestling nights were never missed, and those who loved him knew not to interrupt when his favorite drivers or wrestlers were on the screen. He also had a true passion for woodworking and crafting, often building pieces with care, patience, and the unmistakable touch of his creativity.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Virginia and Howard Woods; his stepmother, Lena Woods; and his brother, Kennith Woods.

He is survived by his daughter, Wanda Savoy (Walter Savoy); his son, Michael Woods (Stacey Woods); the mother of his children and lifelong best friend, Judith Woods; his grandchildren, Dustin Loussedes (Cassidy Loussedes), Amber Loussedes (Trevor Teal), Johnathon Andesilich (Heather Andesilich), Bailey Paskach (Jesse), Alexis Nelson (Jacob Nelson), and Chase Paskach; his beloved great-grandchildren, Rayah Loussedes, Josie Loussedes, Liam Sotelo, Caden Teal, Ryan, and Elijah; and his nephew, Curtis Smith (Alicia Smith and family).

Wayne was a devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, whose presence brought comfort, laughter, and unwavering support to those he loved. His memory will forever be held in the hearts of his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 6, 2025, from 12:00 – 1:00 pm at Davis-Oswald Funeral Home in Delavan, IL. Funeral services will follow with burial at Prairie Rest Cemetery. Meal will be provided after services at the Farmhouse Banquet Center.
