William Baumgartner

William (Bill) Baumgartner ("Dr. B") of Hopedale, in his 80th year, left this world on April 6, 2022 in the Hopedale Nursing Home.

Bill was born in Wild Rose, Wisconsin on December 6, 1941. After living briefly in Michigan, he spent the rest of his childhood in Kewanee, IL. He attended Concordia High School and later Shimer College, Northwestern University and the University of Illinois Medical School where he earned a degree in medicine.  Bill practiced medicine in Dixon, IL and later in Hopedale. Bill was married to his wife Nancy for more than 50 years, with whom he had three children. Bill was a nature enthusiast, enjoyed hiking with his family and cherished dog, visiting local and national parks and exploring the scenic Illinois countryside.

Bill is survived by his wife Nancy, 3 children, their spouses and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorials can be made to St. Peter Lutheran Church in Emden or the Hopedale Medical Complex.
