William B. “Billy” Hundt, 79, of Pekin, passed away Friday, December 1, 2023 at his home.
He was born September 26, 1944 in LaSalle to Robert W. and Jane “Jayne” Marie Floyd Hundt.
Bill attended LaSalle-Peru High School and joined the Army in 1966. After the Army, Bill eventually worked for the State of Illinois Department of Natural Resources, working primarily at Starved Rock State Park, retiring in 2004.
Bill married MaryJane Knott. He later married Renee Simmons, and she survives. Also surviving are his son, Todd Hundt; stepsons, Chad (Jodi) Thomas and James 9Jessica) Simmons; eight grandchildren, Colton, Riley, Cameron, Skyler, Kylie, Jenna, Frankie, and Charlie; two brothers, Robert “Bobby” Hundt and David (Diane) Hundt; one sister, Sue (Lee) Ferri; three nephews, David, Tim, and Danny; and several great nieces and great nephews.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his younger brother, Donny and his daughter “ Little Petunia” Tracy Fulton.
Bill’s favorite things to do were to cut grass on his riding lawn mower, camping, and sitting by the campfire with a good cup of coffee.
A private family burial will be at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield with military rites accorded. There will be no visitation. Davis-Oswald Funeral Home in Tremont is handling the arrangements.
