William "Bill" Knobloch

William (Bill) Knobloch, 88, of Tremont, Illinois, went home to be with the Lord Monday, July 27, 2026.  

He last resided at Apostolic Christian Restmor in Morton, Illinois for six years following a stroke in June of 2020.  

Bill was born March 10, 1938, to Emil and Freida (Doerr) Knobloch in the family home south of Lester, Iowa.  On May 2, 1965, he married Eleanor (Ellie) Schrock in Oakville, Iowa, and she survives.  

Also surviving are eight children:  Beth (Tim) Feuchtenberger of Solon, IA; Lisa (Doug) Van't Hof of Sioux Falls, SD; Renee (Mark) Kaiser of Tremont, IL; Jeff Knobloch of Keosauqua, IA; Susan (Shannon) Haerr of Taylor, MO; Mary (Nelson) Koch of Tremont, IL; Jane Freidinger of Tremont, IL; and Erin (Carlos) Gutierrez of Lecanto, FL; together with 37 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.  

Bill is also survived by one brother, Clyde (Charlene) Knobloch of Goodfield, IL, one sister Esther (Dennis) Warner of Rock Rapids, IA, and two sisters-in-law, Edith Knobloch of Lester, IA and Wilma Knobloch of Inwood, IA along with many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers: Al, Gib, Silas and Melvin, and two sisters, Libby Den Hartog and Naomi Knobloch.  

He attended school in Lester, IA, graduating in 1956.  At the age of 20 he repented and surrendered his life to Jesus.  He was baptized that same year in the Lester Apostolic Christian church.  

In August of 1961 he was inducted into the United States Army and served as a medic, first in Fort Sam (Houston, TX) and later at the military hospital in Carlisle, PA.  After discharge, he returned home to live and work on the same family farm that his parents and grandparents had owned.  It became a Century Farm in the year 2000.  He was passionate about farming and worked hard raising hogs, feeding cattle, and growing crops.  He was very concerned about soil conservation and earned a Soil Conservation award.  In 1978 he was voted Master Pork Producer for Lyon County, Iowa.  

Most of all, Bill loved the Lord and his family.  After supper and again at bedtime, he read Bible stories and prayed with his children.  He was a man of few words, but with his dry sense of humor, he lightened our days with laughter and a well-timed comment or facial expression.  

After retiring from farming, Bill worked for Novartis in Larchwood, IA.  In 2007, he and Ellie moved to Tremont, IL, where he worked for Precision Planting until he retired in 2017 at the age of 79.  

Funeral services will be held at the Tremont Apostolic Church at 10:00 AM Friday, July 31, 2026 with visitation at the Tremont Apostolic Fellowship Hall from 4:00 - 7:00 PM on Thursday, July 30, 2026 and again from 9:00 - 9:45 AM on the morning of the funeral at the church.  Ministers of the church will officiate.  Burial will be at the Tremont Apostolic Cemetery.
